When Acidity Went on Trial

The acidity relief category is highly cluttered, with multiple brands competing through loud and repetitive communication. Most ads in the space tend to feel either overly functional or heavily dramatic, making it difficult for newer campaigns to stand out.

Campaign – Courtroom Drama TVC

Background

The acidity relief category is highly cluttered, with multiple brands competing through loud and repetitive communication. Most ads in the space tend to feel either overly functional or heavily dramatic, making it difficult for newer campaigns to stand out.

For this campaign, the Dabur team wanted a film that felt entertaining, contemporary and relatable while still communicating the discomfort of acidity in a memorable way.

The Challenge

Create a high-impact TVC for Dabur Pudin Hara that subtly takes a dig at competing brands without directly naming them, while also retaining iconic visual elements associated with the brand’s legacy communication.

The communication needed to balance humour, drama, product recall and CGI storytelling within a tightly packed 25-second format.

The Insight

People rarely describe acidity as a small discomfort. They often exaggerate the feeling, talking about it as burning, chaos or something taking over the body completely.

The Strategic Thought

Instead of treating acidity like a simple health issue, the campaign amplified the feeling in a dramatic and entertaining way that modern audiences could instantly relate to.

The Big Idea

What if acidity itself went on trial?

The campaign transformed the problem into a playful courtroom drama where different solutions become part of the debate, while Dabur Pudin Hara emerges as the trusted answer.

The Core Film (TVC)

The film unfolds inside a dramatic courtroom setup where the chaos of acidity takes centre stage.

To visually dramatise the discomfort, the campaign retained iconic brand elements like the CGI flame effect while also introducing a larger-than-life acidity monster living inside the stomach.

As the courtroom debate escalates, the film subtly pokes fun at competing solutions without directly naming any brand.

The communication eventually shifts toward Dabur Pudin Hara as the effective and trusted relief solution.

The film combined humour, drama and CGI storytelling within a short-format narrative designed for today’s audiences.

Campaign Amplification

Following the TVC launch, the campaign was extended through print communication, including a newspaper adaptation that carried forward the same dramatic tonality and product messaging.

Campaign Scale

The campaign rolled out across television and digital platforms, with the TVC also adapted into multiple regional language versions to expand reach across markets.

Results

The campaign successfully brought together humour, drama and CGI storytelling to create a memorable communication in a cluttered category.

By turning acidity into an entertaining courtroom spectacle, the film delivered a distinctive take on digestive relief communication while staying rooted in the brand’s familiar visual language.
